MCP server for Danish accounting systems

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets an AI agent use tools. JaKonto's MCP server gives the agent the same accounting data as our REST API — from e-conomic and Billy with one set of tools — using your API key, and the agent cannot book anything.

Tools

list_connections

The accounting systems the API key can read: system and company.

list_invoices

Invoices page by page in the same format for every system (amounts in øre).

vat_by_quarter

Output VAT, input VAT and VAT payable per quarter.

profit_and_loss

Profit and loss for a period: revenue, expenses and result.

list_proposals

Bookkeeping proposals waiting for (or past) a person's approval.

create_proposals

Finds anomalies and stores them as drafts in JaKonto for approval — never writes to the accounting system.

How to connect

  1. Create a free JaKonto account and connect e-conomic (or try the e-conomic demo company).
  2. Copy your API key from the account page.
  3. Add the server to an MCP client that can send a header — for example Claude Code or Cursor:

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http jakonto https://jakonto.dk/api/v1/mcp \
     --header "X-API-Key: jk_live_…"

Cursor (mcp.json)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "jakonto": {
      "url": "https://jakonto.dk/api/v1/mcp",
      "headers": { "X-API-Key": "jk_live_…" }
    }
  }
}

Good to know

  • Endpoint: https://jakonto.dk/api/v1/mcp — Streamable HTTP (JSON-RPC over POST), protocol 2025-06-18.
  • Authenticate with the API key in X-API-Key or Authorization: Bearer. The agent only sees your own connections.
  • Every tool call counts as one API call in your plan.
  • No tool writes to e-conomic, Billy or Dinero.

Questions

What is an MCP server?

A standard (Model Context Protocol) that AI assistants use to call external tools. With JaKonto's server an agent can look up invoices, VAT and results in your books.

Can the AI agent change my books?

No. Every tool reads only. create_proposals stores drafts in JaKonto that a person must approve; nothing is sent to the accounting system.

Which accounting systems does it work with?

e-conomic (live) and Billy (beta). Dinero is coming. The tools are the same for every system.

Does it cost extra?

No. The MCP server is included in every plan, including the free one; each tool call counts as one API call.
